'Men, Women And Children' Star Ansel Elgort: I Don't Tweet When I'm Having A Bad Day
"If I'm having a bad (day), I probably just won't tweet," said "Men, Women And Children" star Ansel Elgort who wants to be as positive as possible and just tell people how he is feeling mostly if he is having a good day.
Known for his roles in "Divergent" and "The Fault In Our Stars" with Shailene Woodley, the 20-year-old actor wants to "encourage people to be positive and to chase their dreams."
Considering that he has some young people who might be influenced by what he tweet, Elgort said he has to be careful of what he writes on Twitter where he has more than two million followers.
The impact of social media on the modern generation has a lot to do with the story of Elgort's recent film "Men, Women And Children," which also stars Adam Sandler and "Gone Girl" star Ben Affleck's wife Jennifer Garner.
In the film, Elgort plays an antisocial 15-year-old boy who sought companionship in an online role-playing video game after his parents separated.
In an exclusive interview with uInterview, Elgort said, "We're all in the thick of it, but I'm a young person in the thick of it and I know this is sort of how it is. People are very connected, in their phones all the time and I suppose you can take away from it like, 'Oh, social media is bad.'"
On the other hand, Elgort does not think social media is bad. He thinks "it is saying this is how it is, and maybe it'd be a good idea to put down our phones a little more often and connect with the people in front of us."
About social media culture being an inevitable part of his fame, Elgort realized it is "a good tool and it's fun and it's nice to be able to connect with your fans."
After premiering at Toronto International Film Festival, "Men, Women And Children" will be released by Paramount in theaters on Oct. 17, Friday, according to First Showing.
The film was said to have benefited from its popular cast led by Sandler, Garner and Elgort and its marketing cleverly engineered to attract both old and young audiences, according to Deadline.
