The iPad Mini 3 has recently been unveiled alongside the bigger iPad Air 2 about 4 days ago. The 2^nd installment of the iPad Mini was released on November last year . Similarities

Both of the tablets come available with a 7.9 inch LED backlit IPS LCD retina display and 1,536 x 2,048 pixels resolution. Differences

The Apple iPad Mini 3 runs on the iOS 8.1, while the iPad Mini 2 runs on the iOS 7. On the other hand, the iPad Mini  2 can still be upgraded to iOS 8.0.2. Apple, has also bumped off the 32 GB internal storage available in the iPad Mini 2. Some of the choices for the iPad Mini 3 include the 16 GB, 64 GB and the 128 GB. The iPad Mini 3 also comes available with a fingerprint scanner (Touch ID). The Touch ID is next generation tech which is not available in the iPad Mini 2.

Conclusion

The iPad Mini 3 is not that different from the iPad Mini 2. This is the problem though  with Apple devices because the y have brand device selections which overlap with others in terms of niche. The iPhone 6 and the iPad Air 2 both have all of the specs available in the iPad Mini 3, or 2.
