Microsoft's First Entry to Smartwatch Competition, Already Ahead in the Game with Two-Day Battery Life and Multiple Mobile Platforms
Microsoft is soon making their entry in the smartwatch category under CEO Satya Nadella, as its market is predicted to be worth $1.7 billion by next year. Microsoft's smartwatch is expected to launch within the next few weeks, and although no official announcement has been made, the company is surely targeting the holiday season for the new smartwatch release. It appears that the company wants to go earlier than the anticipated new smartwatch by Apple, as the Apple's new smartwatch was pushed to a later release, targeting the early 2015.
The new Microsoft smartwatch tracks a user's heart rate and will work with different mobile platforms. The upcoming smartwatch also has an impressive battery life, as it is expected to exceed two days of regular use. This already goes beyond the already reported Galaxy Gear and Moto 360's battery life, as the two smartwatches only last a full day per charge. Apparently, the upcoming Apple Watch also needs to be charged per night.
Forbes was one of the first to report the Microsoft's upcoming smartwatch, stating in a May article that the company is working on a watch that can work across different mobile platforms, including iPhones, Android devices, and Windows Phones. Other details are yet to be announced.
Microsoft is about to compete with the recently unveiled smartwatches, including the smartwatches from Samsung, Motorola, and Apple. Microsoft is likely to win the smartwatch competition as the company is about to offer a smartwatch with two features that are already ahead of the other smartwatches: long battery life and flexibility in mobile platforms.
