iPad Air 2 Review: Lightest and Thinnest Apple Tablet with the Latest Processor But is it the Best?
"It's so much more intimate than a laptop and so much more capable than a smartphone."
This is how Steve Jobs introduced the iPad to the world, Wall Street Journal reports. The Apple's brain is no longer present in the tech-giant's latest event, where the new iPad Air 2 was introduced, but the device itself still carries Job's principle in it.
The newly launched iPad Air 2 still carry the comfort of bringing a tablet compared to carrying a heavier laptop. The Apple's new flagship tablet is also consistent in terms of its being more capable and multi-functional compared to a smartphone.
On the contrary, tablet market is now bombarded with too many devices that can go head-to-head against Apple's newest. With companies like Samsung, Sony, HTC and even Google who have entered the tough table competition, is the new iPad Air 2 still the tablet to pick among the diverse choices present in the market? Is it really better than its predecessors? Most importantly, is it the best among its present rival?
TIME cited that the $499 iPad Air 2 does deliver in terms of the upgrades that tech-geeks and Apple fans have expected. Compared to its predecessors, the iPad Air, the iPad Mini 3, the iPad Mini 2 and the iPad Mini, Apple's latest tablet has the latest and technically the best processor.
The Cupertino-based tech-giant's latest flagship tablet is powered by an A8X 64-bit chip with M8 motion co-processor, Techcrunch reports. This boost is expected to give iPad Air 2 a longer life compared to the previous iPad series. With its bigger Ram at 2GB, it is also expected to give exceptional performance.
Another notable feature of iPad Air 2 is its lightness. Taking its name literally is a hyperbole but it is indeed lighter, at 0.96 lb., than its predecessors. It is also the thinnest Apple tablet to date with 6.1 mm thickness. This structure makes the iPad Air 2 a comfortable device to use even with one hand only.
The iPad also has a compressed svelte case that makes the user feel like he is holding nothing but a screen. In terms of its body, its premium "aluminum body and soft curved edges" is easier to carry compared to Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5's "slimy, dimpled plastic cover."
Touch ID is also a notable feature of iPad Air 2. This feature allows user to unlock the device through finger prints. Apple's newest tablet, with 9.7-inch 2048 x 1546 pixel display screen, also introduced a "thinner screen technology" and anti-reflective coating that makes the color more alive and vivid.
iPad Air is also available in gold version and with 128GB storage variant, where you can store a lot more apps and games.
In short, "The iPad Air is still plenty fast, plenty thin and plenty ligh" but in order to stand-out amid the diverse competitors, it is for Apple to find out.
