Katy Perry Releases "Dark Horse" Music Video Official, Watch Here (VIDEO)
Katy Perry has released the official music video for her single "Dark Horse" (watch above). She has taken some criticism for the dark magic imagery from her live TV performances of this song on the Grammys and the vibe stays the same for the video. Katy Perry's official "Dark Horse" video was directed by Mathew Cullen and produced by Dawn Rose, Danny Lockwood, Derek Johnson and Motion Theory / Mirada.
Perry's new album PRISM released on October 18th, 2013 and sparked interest with the final track titled "By the Grace of God". The song sounds like a very intimate song thanking God for helping her make it through dark times in her life. However, since the album has been released she claims to not believe in heaven or hell or claim to follow any religion. So getting into her mindset when writing certain songs like "By the Grace of God" has been intriguing to fans and critics alike.
PRISM debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200, with Perry's best opening week to date (286,000 copies sold). The album also peaked at number one in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Prism became Perry's fastest-selling album, the second best-selling album in Australia in 2013, and the second best-selling album released by a woman in the United States in 2013.
The release of the album was preceded by the release of two singles. "Roar", was released on August 10, 2013 as the album's lead single. It became a commercial success and the singer's eighth non-consecutive single to top the US Billboard Hot 100. "Unconditionally" debuted on October 16, 2013 as the record's second single. In between the release of these two tracks were the releases of promotional singles "Dark Horse" on September 17 and "Walking on Air" on September 30, 2013. "Dark Horse" was released as the album's third single on December 17, 2013 and became Perry's ninth single to top the US Billboard Hot 100.
