Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, Available By Spring 2015
Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, the latest upgrade to the Dead or Alive fighting game series developed by Team Ninja in collaboration with Sega AM2 and published by Tecmo Koei, is scheduled for release in February 2015. It will be playable on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms. For PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, there will be a physical and digital release of the game which is priced at $39.99. For the older console platforms, there will only be a digital release priced at $29.99 for the download.
There will also be two versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases. As with 'Dead or Alive: Ultimate,' there will be a free-to-play 'Core Fighters' version. According to IGN, "the free-to-play PlayStation 4 version comes with four 'core' fighters - Ayane, Hayate, Kasumi and Ryu Hayabusa - and has 'almost' every game mode available from the off." For Xbox One users, on the other hand, they will "have a free trial of Last Round where they'll have access to the same content as PS4 owners, but with a timer. Once the timer runs out, you'll have to purchase the Core Fighters pack for $4.99, which then adds Ayane, Hayate, Kasumi and Ryu Hayabusa, along with Hitomi, Tina, Jann Lee and Bass." Additional characters can be purchased separately for $3.99 each. All stages will be included in the free-to-play version although some may have to be unlocked. The 'Story Mode' will be available only as a separate purchase for $12.99. The the retail version, $39.99 or $29.99 depending on game console, of course includes everything. Players of the free Core Fighters versions will be able to play against the full version on the same console.
Dead or Alive 5: Last Round will include some of the downloadable content costumes from Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate, as well as additional new costumes and hairstyles for the cast of fighters. Team Ninja has confirmed that over 400 costumes will be in the upcoming game. Also, according to the developer, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox versions will make use of a new "Soft Engine" which will render the skin of the fighters appear softer and more realistic.
