Apple OS 'X Yosemite': Facts You Need to Know Before Downloading and Installing for an Upgrade
Apple has finally rolled out its OS X Yosemite, the company's biggest operating system update. It is being touted as easy to use, which is great especially if you take into consideration that a lot of people particularly those who are accustomed to other operating systems such as the Microsoft Windows, have a hard time dealing with the Mac OS. If you have been a Mac user for quite some time now, you may be wondering if, like most other Apple computer owners, it is time for you to do an upgrade already or if you should wait for a possible flurry of complaints and negative comments.
Thinking about whether to go ahead and update your operating system or not means that you have become a savvy consumer, as there are several things you need to know about the Apple OS X Yosemite first.
According to ZNET, one of the biggest attractions to the latest Mac operating system is its price, which is basically non-existent. That's right! The company has finally decided to offer something free for a change. Mac owners can now enjoy free upgrades; however, this does not mean that your Apple computer can be upgraded to the new 10.10 OS version. For machines that were purchased just a few years back, most of them are good to go. If the device you own is pretty old though, make sure that you check its Yosemite-friendliness.
As Mac World has cited, you should also be aware of the fact that Yosemite needs quite a lot of space. You need to make certain that your computer has at least 8 GB worth of unoccupied storage space before installing the 10.10 OS. It is even recommended freeing up to 20 GB to ensure that the installation will go smoothly.
Another important detail that you should know about the Apple OS X Yosemite is that a lot of users have complained about WiFi problems ever since they installed the new operating system. According to PC World, a forum thread titled "OSX Yosemite Wifi issues" has quickly become a trending subject, with nearly 200 comments and 12,000 views on it. So with this being pointed out, if you need to always be connected to the Internet, it will probably be better for you to wait until the WiFi issue gets resolved before performing the upgrade.
