Kacey Musgraves & Katy Perry's Tour 2014, Country Star Joining PRISM U.S. Dates this Summer as Special Guest, See Dates Here
Katy Perry has announced the dates for the U.S. leg of her highly anticipated PRISM 2014 World Tour. Also listed as the special guests that will be joining her to open up the show. Select dates will have Kasey Musgraves, Capital Cities and Tegan and Sara.
Kacey Musgraves is definitely the stand out pick with her being a country artist and quickly rising in popularity. Musgraves, who has been doing music for years based out of Texas, was also a contestant on USA Network's "Nashville Star" in 2007. So, though many people believe she has become an overnight sensation by winning such awards as CMA's "New Artist of the Year" Award and Grammy's "Best Country Album" in 2014, she has been working hard for years. I feel it was a good choice for Katy Perry to think outside the box when choosing Musgraves as an opener.
Perry's album PRISM debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200, with Perry's best opening week to date (286,000 copies sold). The album also peaked at number one in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Prism became Perry's fastest-selling album, the second best-selling album in Australia in 2013, and the second best-selling album released by a woman in the United States in 2013.
The release of the album was preceded by the release of two singles. "Roar", was released on August 10, 2013 as the album's lead single. It became a commercial success and the singer's eighth non-consecutive single to top the US Billboard Hot 100. "Unconditionally" debuted on October 16, 2013 as the record's second single. In between the release of these two tracks were the releases of promotional singles "Dark Horse" on September 17 and "Walking on Air" on September 30, 2013. "Dark Horse" was released as the album's third single on December 17, 2013 and became Perry's ninth single to top the US Billboard Hot 100.
