Microsoft Lumia Release Date: Windows Phone Takes a Whole New Look and Says Hello to Microsoft Lumia

Goodbye Nokia and hello Microsoft Lumia, the new Windows Phone in the market near you.

Ian Paul from PC World reports that the tech giant finally announced that Microsoft Lumia will be replacing the Nokia line as its new Windows Phone. In a report, Entrepreneur shares that Microsoft ditching the Nokia flagship is not much of a surprise as the brand had been with the tech giant for a good while now after acquiring it for $7.5 billion and had previously hinted that they will be moving on from the Nokia Lumia phone line.

It's not only the name change Microsoft Lumia is bringing but also a change of looks. Tagging along with the announcement are photos of the new product and it is noted that instead of the Nokia namesake at the rear end of the phone, the Microsoft name and logo are placed instead. Along with the new name and look will be a new operating system as the Windows Phone will be supported by the new Windows 10 operating system. Such changes have sparked the interest of those who were not so excited about the previous Microsoft-held phone line.

However those who are worried that Microsoft would instantly drop all support from their Nokia Lumia line can breathe easy as the tech giant gave their word that they will still continue support for the Nokia phone line for a good while.

As for the Microsoft Lumia release, Microsoft shared that it will be unveiling its first Microsoft Lumia device soon.
