'Fury' Gives the Taste of War, Grossing $57 Million
American warm film "Fury" has just been released last Oct. 24, 2014. It grossed an estimated $57 million worldwide, which combines the estimated domestic gross of $46 million and estimated gross of $11 million in other countries.
"Fury" takes place during World War II in April 1945, which is the last period of the European war as the Allies go on to their last drive into Nazi Germany. A United States Army Staff Sergeant in the 66th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Division named Don "Wardaddy" Collier leads an M4A3E8 Sherman tank named Fury. He is together with its five-man verteran crew, on a mission beyond enemy lines. Aside from Army Staff Sergeant Collier, the crew includes Boyd "Bible" Swan, gunner; Grady "Coon-Ass" Travis, loader; and Trini "Gordo" Garcia, driver; and Norman Ellison, driver/bow gunner. Ellison had to take the place of the original assistant of the tank, after the latter has been killed in battle. He has never seen the inside of a tank previously and alone, he experiences the devastations of war.
"Fury" cast members star Brad Pitt as U.S. Army Sergeant Don "Wardaddy" Collier, Shia LaBeouf as Boyd "Bible" Swan, Jon Bernthal as Grady "Coon-Ass" Travis, Michael Pena as Trini "Gordo" Garcia, Jason Isaacs as "Old Man" Waggoner, Scott Eastwood as sergeant Miles, and Logan Lerman as Norman "Machine" Ellison.
Other members of the cast include Xavier Samuel as Second Liutenant Parker, Brad William Henke as Sergeant Davis, Eugenia Kuzmina as Hilda Meier, Kevin Vance as Sergeant Eterson, Branko Tomovic as German Corporal, Iain Garrett as Sergeant Foster, Stella Stocker as Edith, and Alicia von Rittberg as Emma.

Last September 2014, filming started in Hertfordshire, England while the principal photography was done in Oxfordshire last Sept. 30, 2013. Also, filming took me for more than a month in different locations including the City of Oxford and ended last Nov. 13 last week.
Brad Pitt portrays the tank commander, Wardaddy, as the embodiment of a heartless insensitive soldier whose ultimate aim is to destroy the Nazis as it is what he is made for, just like Fury. The actor spoke about what he has learned in a statement in Express. "I learnt a lot from this film. We all walked away absolutely enriched," Pitt said. "This role is a real study in leadership and learning to command respect and because of this, I am now a better father," he added.
The film is written and piloted by David Ayer. The film has shown and given viewers the opportunity to experience war. In Screenrant, Director Ayer spoke his thoughts on the reason why he decided to relive the World War II setting in his masterpiece. "For me it was both my grandparents fought in the war, my uncle and stuff. And I was in the Navy. So it was always kind of personal to me. There was always like a family piece to it. The more I learned about it, it's always shown as this very sort of black and white, morally righteous event, and it was," Ayer said. "I mean it was good versus evil. But for guys fighting in the tranches, I mean it was brutal. It was murky. That's what I wanted to show, that the outcome was wildly positive, but there was this still this incredible price the guys paid, the soldiers paid. That price has resonated through families ever since," the director added.
The war as portrayed in the story unleashes both enlightenment and darkness in man, according to Washington Post. Warddady embodied a father figure who guides his son "how to hunt". On the negative side, he forced his men to kill, even his men haven't done it before. Most importantly, Wardaddy instills to the audience how to keep ignited, how to keep burning, leaning on his viewpoint on life and death.
