Pitch Perfect 2 Cast, Songs, News and More: Barden Bellas to have a Sowdown with Real-life Acapella Groups
Pitch Perfect was a perfectly pitched success years ago and fans just simply cannot wait for Pitch Perfect 2 set to hit theaters next year. As the countdown to the film's release begins, rumors are starting to pop all over the internet - one of these being that the Barden Bellas will be pitting their best acapella hits against real-life acapella groups, Pentatonix, Pen Masala and Filharmonic.
If you don't know who Pentatonix is, they are a real acapella group who was featured in BC's The Sing Off back in 2011. Composed of five members, Kirstin "Kirstie" Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Ben Bram and Kevin Olusola, they managed to shoot themselves into winning the finals by singing Eye of the Tiger by Survivor. So far, due to the non-disclosure clause of their contract, the group has yet to reveal any juicy insight about the movie. But one thing is for sure, they will be going up against the Barden Bellas.
In terms of the Pitch Perfect 2 cast, director Elizabeth Bank shared in an interview with Yahoo! that the original cast will be returning to reprise their roles for the movie. She further adds that since the movie will be highlighting acapella groups, she wants to honor the idea. Outside the whole singing, the sequel's plot will also be tackling the Bellas' lives as they are closing in to the final days of their college days and the beginnings of real life.
The original Pitch Perfect cast is composed of Anna Kendrick as Beca Mitchell, Skylar Astin as Jesse Swanson, Anna Camp as Aubrey Posen, Brittany Snow as Chloe Beale, Rebel Wilson as Patricia "Fat Amy", Adam DeVine as Bumper Allen, Ester Dean as Cynthia Rose Adams, Alexis Knapp as Stacie Conrad, Hana Mae Lee as Lilly Okanakamura, Ben Platt as Benji Applebaum, Kelly Jakle as Jessica, Shelley Regner as Ashley, and Wanetah Walmsley as Denise.
Rumors have it that the cast is much bigger now as they added Freddie Stroma to play the part of a character named Luke and John Michael Higgins as John Smith.
