Project Ara Release Date, Updates, Features and Other Latest News: New Working Prototype Revealed, Release Date Pegged this 2015 [VIDEO]
Project Ara update: the bright engineers from NK Labs in Boston has just revealed a working prototype of the Project Ara modular smartphone. They unveiled this during a recent visit of Dave Hakkens, a well known smartphone evangelist.
Project Ara, in case you are not familiar, is a product of Motorola's initiative to come up with a modular smartphone that allows a user to customize his phone with only the features that he would need, whether it's Bluetooth, a wifi connector, or extra storage space.
In addition, Google ATAP's director, Paul Eremenko shares, "By following the Android model, we are creating a free and open platform. So as Android is open source and freely available to anybody, the Ara MDK is free and open and available to anybody, and so anybody can create a module per the specifications of the developer's kit and put it in the Ara module marketplace, which is analogous to the Google Play store, and sell directly to consumers."
The new model is set to be unveiled at the Project Ara developer conferences this coming January, which will be held in Singapore and the United States. Watch the demo prototype here:
