Prayers Are Needed for a Hospitalized Little Jimmy Dickens

Opry icon and Country Music Hall of Famer Little Jimmy Dickens, 94, was admitted to a Nashville-area hospital in critical condition on Christmas Day. The nature of his illness has not been disclosed.
Little Jimmy Dickens is famous for his humorous novelty songs, his small size, 4'11" (150 cm), and his rhinestone-studded outfits. He started as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1948 and became a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1983. With the passing of Hank Locklin in March 2009, Dickens became the oldest living member of the Grand Ole Opry at the age of 90.
He still makes regular appearances as a host at the Opry, often with the self-deprecating joke that he is also known as "Willie Nelson after taxes." At the 2011 CMA Awards, Jimmy was dressed up as Justin Bieber, and made fun of Bieber's recent paternity scandal.
Charlie Daniels asks fans to pray for Dickens: "One of my long time musical heroes and dear friend Little Jimmy Dickens is in intensive care. Would you join me in praying for him," he tweeted Monday. "Dynamite definitely does come in small packages. Praying for you Buddy. You're the best."
"Get well soon," Brad Paisley wrote. "Everyone adores you buddy. And I mean everyone."
Dickens has become a mainstay at the Opry over the years. He last performed there on Dec. 20.
