Donna Kay Peace, Mother of Jeremy Peace of the Old Paths, Has Passed Away
Donna Kay Peace, the mother of Jeremy Peace of Southern Gospel staple the Old Paths, has died. Peace was 51 years-old from Calhoun Georgia and she passed away March 27, 2015, at 1:08am. Survived by two sons, Jeremy and Joey Peace and one daughter, Jennifer Peace, four grandchildren, two sisters and her mother.
From Jeremy Peace:
"As long as I can remember, mom always had me in front of a crowd, singing. Growing up, she would style my hair for me and dress me in a little suit with a bolo tie around my neck. As the years went by and I continued to travel and sing, she would delight herself in knowing she had played such an intricate part in my life as a singer and musician.
"Three weeks ago she was given no hope of surviving a sharp decline in health and we thought we had lost her. In a matter of a few days though, she bounced right back and we felt we were on the right track to having our mom back and healthy.
"This all changed on March 26 as once again she was placed in ICU and given only a few hours to live. As we stood around her during her final minutes, we realized the Lord had given us some special time to spend with mom ... to talk to her and love her ... to allow her to see her grandchildren one last time ... to have our final laughs together and make lasting memories.
"During her last moments, we began to sing some of her favorite songs in three part harmony, just my brother, sister and myself as we watched her take her final breath. Oh to have been there in Glory just to see her face as she met her Master for the first time! No more suffering from her tired and worn body. I already miss her beyond what I could have imagined but I know it was only goodbye for just a short while. We will meet again in a better place. Until then, I'll keep singing and love others to Jesus. I love you mama."
