Selena Gomez, Mandy Moore, Wes Hampton & Others Offer Prayers for the Victims of Nepal's Earthquake

Nepal has been hit by one of the nation's worst earthquakes. The city has been devstated as more than 1,800 people were killed.The 7.8 magnitude quake struck an area of central Nepal between the capital, Kathmandu, and the city of Pokhara on Saturday morning. The latest home ministry figures say 1,805 people were killed and 4,718 people were injured.
Many countries and international charities have offered aid to Nepal to deal with the disaster. There were also victims in India, Bangladesh, in the Chinese region of Tibet and on Mount Everest, where avalanches were triggered.Little information has emerged from the epicentre, where extensive damage has been reported, and there are fears the death toll could rise yet further.
Christian leaders have responded to the situation with donations and call for prayers. Senior pastor of Harvest Bible Church and popular author James McDonald writes on social media: "Heavy hearted re Nepal earthquake & our churches there - we're already in touch, will update @harvestbible1 services today/Sunday - pls pray."
Southern Gospel artist Wes Hampton likewise offers his condolences: "My heart and prayers go out to those in Nepal. Heartbreaking. #NepalEarthquake."
Pop songstress Selena Gomez who has been known for her faith and for attending Hillsong Church writes: "It's a sad day for Nepal. Let's send our sympathies to the families who lost their loved in this tragic event and pray for them. God bless." Known for her movies and her songs, Mandy Moore: "Thoughts, prayers and love to all affected by the devastating and deadly #NepalEarthquake."
T.D. Jakes also offers his sympathies and calls for our prayers: "My heart is broken over the loss of 1400 people in Nepal, death of Freddie Gray, beheading of Coptic Christians n Libya. Who will pray w me?." Echoing the same sentiments, author John Bevere encourages: "Pray for the people of Nepal. Very few understand the pain, suffering, misery, and hopelessness many... "
