Exclusive Interview: Getting to Know Family Gospel Group the Showers
Family-based Gospel group The Showers has released two Top 40 radio singles "Praise Your Way Through" (#29 peak). Their current rising radio single "Better" (written and produced by Deon Kipping) is already a Top 30 hit on the iTunes Gospel/Christian Top 200 Singles Chart upon its release. Their highly anticipated self-titled debut album has just been released. The album features production by Grammy winner Myron Butler (Tamela Mann, Marvin Sapp), Deon Kipping (Marvin Sapp, JJ Hairston, Jessica Reedy) and Bruce Robinson, Jr (Joshua Rogers, Fantasia).
Hallels: Can you tell us a little about yourselves?
We are preachers kids from Hammond, LA. Our ages range from 27 to 41. The Showers' consist of realtors, business owners and educators. We began singing at a young age in the church. It commenced with Regina, the oldest sibling. Our father asked God for a singer, and God gave our parents Regina. As you can see, God did exceedingly abundantly above all we could ask or think. Our parents were true to God when He said be fruitful and multiply the earth. We believe and trust God that He will continue to reign in us and that, through our ministry, that lives will be changed.
Hallels: Congratulations on the release of your new album. Did you approach this album differently compared to your debut album "Hear My Prayers"?
Yes we did! Our freshman project was a local quest; however, our self-titled sophomore album is a national quest. We thank God for using us and coupling us with His best producers: Myron Butler, Deon Kipping and Bruce Robinson, Jr. What a mighty God we serve! The album is available on all digital outlets.
Hallels: Let's talk about your new single, "Better," which features Canton Jones. What's the song about? And why do you love this song?
This song speaks to the whole being, encouraging one to be Better in every area of life. We all want to be Better, whether it's spiritually, financially, healthwise or in our relationship. We should strive for perfection. We are not all perfect but through Christ can live a victorious life.
Hallels: What are you most passionate about on this new record?
We are most passionate about how God married this union and made what men thought an impossible task to be possible. The entire album has its own personalized message that lets you know you can Fight, as you Praise Your Way Through, to Believe Again that a Change Is Gonna Come. When we Immediately understand that Jesus Died for our sins we can Outpour to the world that Jesus Is My Friend as we continue to Hear The Voice of God, then we will all be Better.
Hallels: When you are not touring or recording, do you lead worship at your local church?
Yes, Titus, our lead singer does. And we are all part of the praise and worship ministry.
Hallels: For our readers who would like to purchase your new album and/or find out more about you, where can they go?
