Craig Wayne Boyd's Update: Where is Last Year's Winner of The Voice?

Just a year ago on NBC's The Voice, Craig Wayne Boyd from Blake Shelton's team took home the crown. During his Blind Audition, Boyd sang "The Whiskey Ain't Workin'" by Travis Tritt and Marty Stuart. Two coaches (Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams) turned around. Boyd chose Blake Shelton as his coach.
Over the season, Boyd continued to astond both the judges and the audience. Over the course of his appearance at the Voice and beyond, Boyd placed 7 songs on Billboard's Country Songs chart. His highest charting song out of this bunch of hits is his rendition of the hymn "The Old Rugged Cross." Who could forget Boyd's rendition of the Christian hymn "The Old Rugged Cross"?
Shortly after winning the show and signing with Universal Republic and Dot Records, Boyd played at the Grand Ole Opry and went on 65 city tour. His debut album was scheduled to be released this year, but never materialized. In early May 2015, following 6 weeks of rumors, it was reported that Boyd parted ways with Dot. He tweeted that "it's called I ASK off of the label....".
Craig Wayne Boyd's only single for Dot Records, his coronation song "My Baby's Got A Smile On Her Face," written by Mark Merchetti and Steph Jones and produced by his Voice coach Blake Shelton. The song debuted at #1 on the multi-metric Billboard Hot Country Songs based on 1st week sales of 99k, before crashing off that chart the following week with a 94% drop in sales.
It was sent to country radio via Play MPE on January 12, 2015, but never got an official adds date, and did not chart on the Billboard Country Airplay or the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart. Dot Records never sent Craig Wayne Boyd out on the radio tour expected of new acts to introduce themselves to programmers around the country - a sign of the label's lack of investment in him.
Craig Wayne Boyd was removed from the Big Machine Label Group website in mid-March, shortly after Big Machine Label Group head Scott Borchetta interviewed with San Jose country station KRTY and talked about how sometimes, you find that an artist is "unteachable, that they're not going to get it, and you have to terminate the relationship, which is very hard to do"
