Trent Harmon, the New American Idol Winner, is Passionate About His Faith
Trent Harmon is the newest American Idol winner. He won the fifteenth season of American Idol on April 7, 2016. His winning coronation single "Falling" was written by singer songwriter and American Idol judge Keith Urban with Dallas Davidson and Brett James. For winning the title, Harmon received a Ford car and a recording contract with Big Machine Records. La'Porsha Renae was runner-up.
Harmon is also a committed Christian. He is passionate about his faith and he is not shy to share it. Harmon started in music when his mother taught him to sing "Amazing Grace" when he was the age of 5, and he grew up singing in church.
This past Easter, Harmon shared a photo from church and wrote, "Happy Easter, y'all. Have fun today; remember your purpose, where you've been, who's you are and where you want to go." He also likes sharing inspirational and faith-filled quotes on social media.
In a teary-eyed acceptance speech, he admitted his competition La'Porsha Renae pushed him every step of the way. "I worked so hard," Harmon said after hugging Renae, tears welling up in his blue eyes. "I know I have a God-given ability but I didn't want to take it for granted."
"And she pushed me to do it."
