Zach Braff Stars & Directs New Movie 'Wish I Was Here' with Kate Hudson Releasing July 2014, Watch Trailer Here (VIDEO)
Zach Braff is directing and starring in his new movie Wish I Was Here with co-star Kate Hudson that opens this Summer. The American comedy drama will hit theaters on July 18th and is about Aidan Bloom (Braff), who is a struggling actor, father, and husband is trying to find the purpose of his life at the age of 35 (watch trailer above).
Wish I Was Here stars Zach Braff, Kate Hudson, Jim Parsons, Ashley Greene, Joey King and James Avery in his final film role. Filming for the movie took 25 days, beginning on August 5, 2013 in Los Angeles and concluded on September 6, 2013. The movie is directed by Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher and released by Double Feature Films and Worldview Entertainment.
The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2014, 10 years after the premiere of the Braff's directed film Garden State that became a huge success. Focus Features bought the distribution rights for $2.75 million.
In April 2013, Braff launched a Kickstarter campaign for the film to make $2 million to boost his project. The campaign raised $2 million in 3 days after the project was launched. On 15 May Worldview Entertainment stepped in to gap finance the film project and the Kickstarter project has raised over $2.6 million. On May 24 the campaign ended by Braff with an amount of $3,105,473 funded by 46,520 people.
Zach Braff is best known for his role on the television comedy "Scrubs" where he played John "J.D." Dorian from 2001-2010.
