Jay Z's Prophetic New Song 'Spiritual' Debuts on Billboard + Twitter Top Tracks Chart
Jay Z has written what is his most prophetic song to date, aptly titled "Spiritual." The song was written in the wake of the police shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. This week Jay Z gains his second entry as a lead artist on the Billboard + Twitter Top Trackschart (dated July 23) with "Spiritual," which debuts at No. 4. (The chart began in May 2014.)
The song was accompanied by a letter. "I made this song awhile ago, I never got to finish it," said Hov. "Punch (TDE) told me I should drop it when Mike Brown died, sadly I told him, 'this issue will always be relevant.' I'm hurt that I knew his death wouldn't be the last."
He added, "I'm saddened and disappointed in THIS America - we should be further along. WE ARE NOT."
"Ya'll can have that, I'm smack dab in the hurricane of emotions," he raps. "Can't even raise my little daughter, my little Carter / We call her Blue 'cause it's sad that, how could I be a dad that I never had that / Shattered in a million pieces, where the glass at?"
