Rascal Flatts Covers 4Him on New Christmas Album "The Greatest Gift of All"
After 17 years, Rascal Flatts will release their first Christmas album on October 21. The Greatest Gift of All will mix holiday classics and contemporary tunes, with the trio (Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney) also producing the collection.
One of the covers on the album is Rascal Flatts' take of 4Him's "A Strange Way to Save the World." The song first appeared on 4Him's 1993 Christmas album "The Season of Love" (also known as "Christmas: The Season of Love"). The album was the fourth studio album of the Contemporary Christian band. It was released on Benson Records on October 1, 1993. Due to its original success among 4Him's works, the album was re-issued on September 30, 1997 with a new album cover and art.
Other festive covers include the Yuletide classic, "Joy to the World," and "Silent Night" which features vocals from the children of all three group members.
"It probably seems crazy that we waited this long to release a Christmas record," DeMarcus says. "We just wanted to do it right. There are certain songs I think most everyone wants to hear during Christmas, and we wanted to put our own special spin on those songs, while adding in a couple of our personal favorites. We had a blast making this album, and being in the producer's chair ourselves makes it extra fun and challenging for us."
Rascal Flatts scored their 16th Number One single this summer with "I Like the Sound of That," and this past month sold the 10 millionth concert ticket during their touring career. The band's Rhythm and Roots Tour continues this weekend with shows in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Friday (September 23rd) and in Tallahassee, Florida, the following night.
