Lee Greenwood To Perform During President-Elect Donald Trump's Inauguration Ceremony
Grammy® winning country music icon Lee Greenwood will perform for President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration during the "'Make America Great Again!' Welcome Celebration" on January 19th. This will be Greenwood's fourth presidential inauguration ceremony. Previously, the "God Bless the U.S.A" artist sang during President Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush's ceremonies.
"I'm honored to be part of history again and sing for President-elect Donald Trump. This is a time to overcome challenges in our country and band together. My wife Kim and I are looking forward to the inauguration ceremonies," Greenwood said.
Greenwood is no stranger to singing for presidents - he also performed in front of five living presidents, including President Jimmy Carter, President Gerald Ford, President Richard Nixon, President Ronald Reagan and President George H.W. Bush during the opening ceremonies of the Reagan Library.
President George W. Bush also appointed Greenwood to the National Council on the Arts, the advisory body of the National Endowment for the Arts to help the NEA advance its mission to support artistic excellence, creativity and innovation in communities across the country. The National Council on the Arts advises the chairman on agency policies and programs. It reviews and makes recommendations to the chairman on applications for grants, funding guidelines, and leadership initiatives. Greenwood continued serving in that role until the term ended during President Barack Obama's leadership.
Greenwood, who was recently named one of Billboard's 100 Greatest Country Artists of All Time, is also a celebrity ambassador for the DAV, (Disabled American Veterans), a non profit charity that provides support for America's ill and injured veterans.
