The Stellar Awards Honor Reverend Clay Evans

Chicago icon Reverend Clay Evans will receive the Ambassador Bobby Jones Legends Award for his many outstanding contributions during his 6 decades of service as a preacher, pastor, award winning Gospel Music recording artist, civil rights leader and humanitarian during the 32nd Annual Stellar Awards held on March 25th at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Clay Evans is the living proliferation of his own message, It Is No Secret What God Can Do", states Reverend Jesse Jackson, Founder and President of the Rainbow Push Coalition and longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church. "From his early days in Chicago singing in the Lux Singers with the King of Gospel Reverend James Cleveland to the founding of the Ship to his work in the civil rights movement and support of Dr. King to the many recordings, nationwide television and radio broadcasts and worldwide travels of the 150 voice Fellowship Choir to his work to educate and motivate countless numbers of young people through the Clay Evans Scholarship Fund, not only is he a living legend (at 91 and counting), he is worthy of double honor. Thank you Don Jackson, thank you Dr. Bobby Jones for celebrating this esteemed giant during the time that he can appreciate it."
In 2016, the city of Chicago honored Reverend Evans with the Chicago Community Service Award presented by Mayor Rahm Emanuel. In September. the Clay Evans Heritage Series released Rev. Clay Evans and the Ship, What a Legacy, Volume 1, a retrospective disc celebrating the 50 + years of music and ministry from Reverend Evans and the internationally renown Fellowship Choir. The disc spent 16 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart with over 10 weeks in the top 10. What A Legacy reached as high as number 3, placing Evans next to the likes of current Gospel Music luminaries Kirk Franklin and Tamela Mann.
Reverend Clay Evans continues his many travels across the nation, bringing hope and inspiration to people from all walks of life.
