Shenandoah Performs for 20,000+ at Sold Out Concert
Legendary group Shenandoah performed for more than 20,000 as they opened for Garth Brooks at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Saturday night's (May 13) sold out show was a stop on Brooks' World Tour, which also features his wife, Trisha Yearwood.
"There are only two places that I have felt a nervous rush of exciting energy before a show," notes Shenandoah lead singer Marty Raybon. "One is the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, two is and was the other night before we walked out on stage in Kansas City before thousands of Garth-O-Exciteamax. WOW!! What a time!! Still on a high!! Garth Brooks is an entertainer's entertainer! You can quote me on that!"
Shenandoah's Mike McGuire adds, "Last time we worked with Garth was at the 'Peach Festival' in Gaffney, SC when he opened up for us 20 years ago. My, my how things have changed! I know one thing for sure... he hasn't changed. He's still just as considerate and humble as he was all those years ago and we can't thank him enough for allowing Shenandoah to be a part of his huge World Tour. We are truly floored and honored!"
The concert was Brooks' 7th sold out show at the Sprint Center.
To cap off the weekend, on Sunday night's edition of NBC's The Voice, Lauren Duski from Team Blake performed Shenandoah's hit song "Ghost In This House."
"Lauren absolutely sang the stew out of that song," raves Raybon. "It was incredible."
