Story Behind Darlene Zschech's "First Love"
Renowned worship leader, author and pastor Darlene Zschech is one who loves to encourage others to be leaders. Over the years, Zschech has mentored many of today's worship leaders and writers such as Brooke Fraser, Mia Fieldes, Miriam Webster, Joel Houston and many others. Recently, Zschech has been trying to encourage two worship leaders from her current church HopeUC, Luke Taylor and Sarah Potts.
On her recently released live album Here I Am Send Me (Hineni) CD/DVD from Integrity Music, Zschech has included a song "First Love." The song was written by Luke Taylor and Sarah Potts. And she has also allowed Taylor to sing lead on the track.
This is how Zschech came to hear about the song. "I was in my car playing through demos of songs, and this one literally jumped out at me. I love that it says Jesus is my first love... not an accessory to my life, but Whom all things revolve around. I love that it was written by two of our great worship leaders at church, Luke Taylor and Sarah Potts. I love that our Hope UC family love this song, that every time we sing it, it kind of makes your heart smile, and your praise rise. I love how God has given us the ability to access heaven on earth at any time, as we enter His gates with thanksgiving. I am one ever grateful woman."
Every fear overtaken / Every wall comes crashing down / I am free in Your presence whoa / You have lifted my burdens / You surround me with Your grace / Full of hope in Your presence whoa And I, I can't stop singing 'bout Your love / I can't stop singing 'bout Your love / My heart is overcome / And I, I can't stop singing 'bout Your love / For everything that You've done / My heart is overcome
