Kirk Franklin Scores His 5th #1 with "My World Needs You"

Multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, songwriter, producer and music icon Kirk Franklin's "My World Needs You," featuring Sarah Reeves, Tasha Cobbs and Tamela Mann, is #1 this week on Billboard's Gospel Airplay chart (dated July 15). This is also the fifth time Franklin has reached the pole position.
Now Franklin ties with Tamela Mann and James Fortune & FIYA for the most leaders in the chart's 12-year history. "World" is the third single from Franklin's Losing My Religion album, following "123 Victory," featuring Pharrell Williams, which peaked at No. 2 on Gospel Airplay (June 25, 2016) and ruled Hot Gospel Songs, which blends airplay, streaming and sales data (Sept. 10, 2016).
Released on November 13th, LOSING MY RELIGION debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Current Gospel Chart and Billboard's Top Christian/Gospel Albums Chart. The album also entered No. 10 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart, according to Nielsen Soundscan. The new project marks Franklin's eleventh consecutive No.1 debut. LOSING MY RELIGION is Franklin's most comprehensive album yet, garnering accolades from fans, peers and critics, with the Associated Press declaring it "a very well-crafted album from the first song to the 13th."
Franklin has been on the road for the release of the album, including a sold-out album release concert at the Greater Allen AME Cathedral of New York on November 13th, and recent television appearances around the country including HLN, NewsOne Now with Roland Martin, PIX11 Morning News, Good Day Atlanta, Good Day DC and more.
