Janet Jackson Visits Houston Hurricane Survivors, Donates Proceeds From 'The State Of The World Tour'

Timing is absolutely everything. Janet Jackson's The State of the World Tour kicked off just last weekend, with one of the very first stops being in the hurricane ravaged city of Houston. She promised to do 'something special' and on Friday, Jackson delivered as she visited the George R. Brown Center, an official Red Cross location after the destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey.
The iconic star, dressed in a light blue denim jumpsuit, greeted evacuees, held babies and did her best to be a bright spot for those facing the harsh task of rebuilding. Jackson appeared ready to pitch in for whatever was needed in the moment but her generosity didn't stop there. It's going to take millions to help a city like Houston to rebuild and the starlet is willing to help with that as well.
The Toyota Center in Houston confirmed via a tweet that Jackson would be giving to the community in another way saying,
"We can't wait to have @JanetJackson back here tomorrow! Janet will donate proceeds from the show to local #HurricaneHarvey relief charities."
Jackson's new tour comes on the heels of a chaotic year. She originally had intended to embark on her Unbreakable Tour back in 2016 but ended up canceling it in favor of starting a family with then-husband, Al Mana. Her son was born last January and Jackson confirmed that she and Mana were divorcing shortly thereafter. Jackson eventually announced that The State of the World Tour would be replacing last years' canceled event and it's pretty apparent that she took rehearsals seriously. Her return to the stage last Thursday night in New Orleans was greeted with rave reviews.
It's nice to see Jackson, while in the midst of her own sweeping changes, finding ways to give to those in dire need, isn't it?
