Lincoln Brewster Debuts at #2 with "God of the Impossible"
Senior pastor and worship leader Lincoln Brewster debuts at No. 2 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart with God of the Impossible (dated May 19). The set moved 7,000 equivalent album units (6,000 in traditional album sales), according to Nielsen Music.
This is Brewster's fifth Top Christian Albums top 10 and matches two sets that also started and peaked at No. 2: Oxygen: A Worship Album (5,000 sold; Sept. 6, 2014) and Today Is the Day (a personal-weekly-best 9,000; Oct. 11, 2008). He has earned his five top 10s consecutively, rounded out by Joy to the World: A Christmas Collection (No. 6, 2012) and Real Life (No. 3, 2010).
Brewster, a senior pastor for the multi-campus Bayside Church near Sacramento, California, says the album is a reminder that "God is always working behind the scenes." It is a theme that echoes throughout his journey, from a childhood overshadowed by abuse, to a life filled with forgiveness and a ministry that has impacted believers around the world.
"The more of life I see, the more I need to remember that He really is the 'God of the Impossible'," explains Brewster, a guitar virtuoso who has been playing since age nine. "He is our Father who holds every circumstance, He is in complete control and nothing can separate us from His love."
"Throughout the years, there have been times when I looked at situations and thought, 'that's not possible'," he adds. "But, in God's way and in His timing, He's made it happen. Hopefully, these songs are reminders that our Father is the God of Ephesians 3:20."
"No One Like Our God", the album's first radio single, seems to have struck that chord with listeners, already reaching over one million streams on digital platforms. The song joins 10 other new tracks on God Of The Impossible, which was produced by Colby Wedgeworth (Zach Williams, Jordan Feliz) and Corbin Philips, who previously co-produced Brewster's critically-acclaimed Oxygen album, and Kyle Lee (Bryan & Katie Torwalt). The tracklist is rounded out with songs by Brewster penned with members of his Bayside worship team, Thrive, and guest writers including Mitch Wong (Planetshakers) and Mia Fieldes (The Belonging/Hillsong).
In addition to the 11 new songs, Brewster includes four bonus tracks - acoustic versions of three of the songs and one highly-anticipated instrumental featuring his trademark guitar solos - on a God Of The Impossible Deluxe album. The project will be available everywhere Christian music is sold beginning May 4 with a pre-sale option and the immediate download of the songs "No One Like Our God" and "Here I Am".
