Unspoken's "Reason" Receives Early Acclaim
The three years since Unspoken's last album release have been full of ups and downs, but every curveball has led here: to their third full-length record, Reason. The 12-track album is available now for physical purchase and on all digital outlets.
The band has celebrated the album's release with a full week, starting with a visit to Seacrest Studios at Vanderbilt's Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital, followed by performances at Sirius XM in both Nashville and New York City, and even a pop-up acoustic set in New York's Washington Square Park with Star 99.1.
Reason showcases the band at their best, sharing the groove and pop musicality they are known for, but with fresh and innovative takes, such as more gospel and soul influenced tracks. They worked with producers such as Tedd T. (for KING & COUNTRY) and Chris Stevens (tobyMac) to craft their most raw and authentic songs to date, and the result is a meaningful impact among listeners:
"An album for both the ear and the mind. This has brilliantly given us some food for thought by engaging in theological themes often neglected. Their soulful pop-centric sound has never sounded better." - Hallels
Lead singer Chad Mattson tells how the personal testimonies of the album came out of battles against anxiety and depression among his family. Also struggling with the demanding pressures and insecurity of band life, Mattson learned how our need for Jesus is always holy and healing, even in the most painful times.
"This album is about believing that what Scripture says is actually for us. We can believe God for someone else all day long, but to believe God for ourselves is a totally different thing," Mattson describes. "Every song on this record speaks to some kind of emotion or struggle we've been going through, along with the fact that His love is this reason. It's the reason we have everything we need. It's the reason we can love ourselves, it's the reason we've made it this far, the reason we can look in the mirror and be confident, and know we're going to be all right."
Mattson's nine-year-old daughter Romy joined the band to film the music video for lead single "Reason." Filled with more than 600 helium balloons and stunts, it has accumulated over half a million Youtube views in less than two weeks. At radio, "Reason" is Top 20, with 80 stations sharing the songs to more than 3 million listeners each week and growing.
The band is currently touring this summer, making stops at a variety of festivals. Keep up with the latest news and events through their website.
