Hillsong Church Launches Global Bushfire Appeal

Since bushfire season began in August 2019 in Australia, nearly 6 million hectares of land has been destroyed. At least 21 people - 17 from NSW, two from Victoria and two from South Australia - are now known to have died. At least 2,500 homes have been destroyed.
In response to the unprecedented and ongoing devastation caused by the Australian Bushfires over the last several months, Hillsong Church has organised a Global Bushfire Appeal. 100% of giving will go towards assisting volunteer firefighters across the country and supporting families directly affected by the fires. Any gift is greatly appreciated and for those in Australia the giving is tax deductible. Alternative currency options are available to those giving internationally.
Global senior pastor Bobbie Houston of Hillsong Church writes: "It's heartening to see so many rallying to help. AUSTRALIA has been kind to so many around the world, who have come to love this crazy/amazing/wondrous "Great Southland of the Holy Spirit"! (In the year 1606 Capt. Pedro Fernandez de Quiros gave this continent the name "Australia del Espiritu Santo" or literally "Southland of the Holy Spirit"). Trusting those affected will sense they are not forgotten and that many are praying for strength, courage and peace as they rebuild."
Simlarly, Hillsong's worship leader and songwriter Brooke Ligertwood encourages us to give. "As Hillsong Los Angeles we get the great honor of being a part of a global church. Part of that honor means supporting our church across the world when disaster hits. As a church we're praying for Australia in the midst of the horrible fires that are happening across the country."
