The Girls of Barden Bellas Are Back For Pitch Perfect 2

You're not going to miss them so much anymore: musical comedy "Pitch Perfect 2" is slated for a May 15, 2015 release. It is the sequel to the 2012 hit, "Pitch Perfect."

"Pitch Perfect" tells the story of a college women's a cappella group, The Barden Bellas, in their quest to be the next singing sensation. It was loosely based on "Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory," written by Mickey Rapkin. It joins "School of Rock" as one of the highest grossing music-themed movies to date.

The movie popularized the song "Cups (When I'm Gone)." It rose to the #6 spot on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2013.

"Pitch Perfect 2" will be bringing in stars from the original movie such as Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Elizabeth Banks says, "The Bellas have a new main rival this time around, and I will not say who they are. They've gotten too big for their britches, possibly literally. And they've sort of forgotten about the music a little bit." Incidentally, Banks will reprise her role as one of the judges in the competition.

It has recently been confirmed that a capella group Pentatonix will be the new rivals of the Barden Bellas. Vocal group The Filharmonic will be joining the cast as well. Both rose to fame as contestants in the NBC singing reality show "The Sing-Off."

Written by Kay Cannon, "Pitch Perfect 2" is currently in production. Do watch out for it.
