Google Nexus 8 2014 Release Date: Leak Suggests HTC has been chosen as the Manufacturer
For those who have been waiting for the Nexus 8 tablet well you need not to wait for it too long from now on as there has been rumors that it will soon be in the market for you. Now rumor has it that the new Nexus 8 tablet might not be that different form the Nexus 10 tablet in terms of body and size. If this is true am sure most of the fans will be disappointed by the fact that it does not offer much when it comes to looks. The rounded edge look is too old fashioned and we hope that they will surprise us with a look to die for, after all this are just rumors.
Well with all these rumors going around its hard to tell whether they are true or not, however, German Tech blogger Carsten did find the reference in the chromium project code which hinted on the release of the Nexus 8 tablet. Now the source code did mention the Nexus 8 but it did not on the other hand say much about it. No exact information was delivered about the Nexus 8 and we can only guess what it has to offer. With the availability of more codes there has been more speculations about the Nexus 8 as Tech community Myce had uncovered the Android code referring to the project named Volantis and Flounder but Google was fast in removing any form of references when they noticed that people were snooping around for them.
What are the specs of the Nexus? Well we all wonder. We speculate that it might come in with either of the two screen inches which are the 16:10 8 inch or 16:10 8.9 inch screen. According to Rhoda Alexander the Nexus 8 will contain a high resolution 8.9 inch screen which will match it's 2560x1600 pixels on the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9. This will in turn give it a pixel density of 339PPI. This is higher than the Nexus 7 which has the 323PPI density pixel. With the competition in the market it only makes sense that Google will have an 8.9 inch in the Nexus 8 rather than replace it with either of the other tablets.
As for the manufacturer we are not yet sure which way Google will go however Alexander did hint on them using HTC. HTC are the makers of the HTC One M8 phone. HTC had been given the opportunity to manufacture the Nexus 7 but they turned down the offer as they decided to concentrate with their phone line up. It seems like fortune has knocked on their door again with Google offering them with another opportunity. If they will take it, that is left to be seen and with Google been known to offer different manufactures the job, well, we cannot been sure if HTC will indeed do it.
We still do not know which processor will be used, we however think that it might come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The main question remains on whether it will come with the new Snapdragon 805, the 801 or the 800 found in most flagship Androids or tablets. We also understand that Google will choose to use an Intel Atom processor instead of a tried and tested Qualcomm one.Two versions of the Codenamed Moorefield, Intel's SoC is quad-core and 64-bit are being considered as the chips to be used in the Nexus 8 which are the Intel Atom Z3560, running at up to 1.8GHz and the Intel Atom Z3580 running at 2.33GHz due to their extra graphic grunt. With use of the PowerVR G6430 GPU means that the Nexus 8 should perform blisteringly well during intensive 3D gaming. As for the pricing well we will have to with and see if it will be too expensive than the Nexus 7 or fairly expensive. We look forward to seeing what Google has in stored for us.
