Darlene Zschech, Planetshakers, Sheila Walsh, Cheri Keaggy & Others Pray for the Families of the Victims of Malaysia Airlines MH17
A little after 4 months since Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 went missing, a second tragedy struck again. On July 17, 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 en route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from Amsterdam, the Netherlands was shot down. It crashed in Ukraine where all 283 passengers and 15 crew members aboard were killed. Many artists and worship leaders of Christian music have taken the time to step out to pray for the families and friends of these victims. They have flooded Twitter with prayers and invitations to all of us to pray.
Fronting Hillsong Worship for many years Darlene Zschech was one of the first to post on Twitter: "My heart breaks for all those who've lost loved ones today.. We grieve with you & uphold you in prayer xx." Having suffered a bout with cancer earlier this year, Darlene Zschech certainly understands the meaning of pain and suffering. Equally gracious is Brian Houston, the senior pastor of Hillsong Church, who writes: "Heartfelt prayers for the Malaysian people after yet another tragedy and to all the affected people."
Planetshakers who had just released two worship albums this year, one in English and the other in Spanish took the time to write: "Our prayers and thoughts go out to all those affected by the Malaysian Airlines." With 28 Australians on board MH17, new Australian Christian artist Vita Adam posted on Twitter: "Stunned at the news of flight MH17 being shot down by a missile. How did we, as humans, come to be this way? My heart is with all affected x."
Being one who is acquainted with suffering after writing her moving book "God Loves Broken People," singer and author Sheila Walsh also offers her sympathies: "Praying for the families impacted by the downed Malaysia aircraft over the Ukraine. Lord have mercy as families wait to receive loved ones." On her Facebook Cheri Keaggy prays: "O Heavenly Father, comfort all who mourn this day, all who are struggling, all who need encouragement, all who need rest. You are a safe haven for all who come under your care. Meet us there."
Let's remember to pray for these families and friends affected by this tragedy, knowing that our Father hears the cries of the broken.
