CeCe Winans Celebrates Whitney Houston's Birthday

Gospel music veteran CeCe Winans pays tribute to Whitney Houston on social media today. If Houston were alive, she would have been 58 years-old on August 9th. Known for her hits such as "I Will Always Love You," "I Look to You," "How Will I Know" and many others, Houston is one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Her powerful and soulful vocal performances, as well as her prominence on the music charts, have inspired many other singers.
"Special Happy Birthday to my sister and friend @whitneyhouston," Winans celebrates. "Excited to celebrate your legacy THIS month. More details coming soon! "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act." -Proverbs 3:27"
Winans stood by her friend Whitney even through her battle with drug abuse. "I love her and I'm praying for her," she said in an interview in 2010. "Please keep [Whitney's] family in prayer, and the best way to honor her is to be reminded that tomorrow is not promised to any of us, so love God and love each other," adds Winans.
Through their decades-long friendship, it wasn't uncommon for Houston to drop in and sing at a BeBe and CeCe Winans concert, after she introduced herself to the pair at an awards show in 1987. Winans even recorded a duet with Houston in 1996. "Count on Me" was the fourth single from the soundtrack album of the motion picture Waiting to Exhale, and the second single by Houston released from that album and its soundtrack. "Count on Me" became Winans's highest-charting single on the US Hot 100, peaking at #8. It was certified gold in the U.S.
