FREE MUSIC: Gretchen Peters, Suzy Bogguss and Matraca Berg's "Farther Along"

Singer and songwriter Gretchen Peters has teamed up with her pals Suzy Bogguss and Matraca Berg to record the hymn "Farther Along." The song was recorded at Eddie's Attic in Decatur, Georgia on February 24, 2010.
The song deals with a Christian's dismay at the apparent prosperity of the wicked, when contrasted with the suffering of the righteous. The repeated theme is that, "farther along" (in Heaven, perhaps), the truth will be revealed. "Farther Along" has been covered by numerous artists over the years. In 1987, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris recorded an arrangement by John Starling and Emmylou Harris for the album Trio. In 2009, Ronnie Milsap covered the song on his gospel album, Then Sings My Soul. In 2011, Josh Garrels re-arranged the song for his album Love & War & The Sea In Between.
Peters write, "Despite a minor train wreck between the first and second verses (I swear, we rehearsed!), the blend of our three voices still gives me a thrill, so I thought I'd share this perfectly imperfect performance with you."

Gretchen Peters is an award winning writer and she has had songs cut by artists as diverse as Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, The Neville Brothers, Patty Loveless, George Strait, Bryan Adams and Faith Hill. Her song "Independence Day", recorded by Martina McBride, won a CMA Song of the Year award in 1995. She has been nominated for 2 Grammys ("Independence Day/Martina McBride, "You Don't Even Know Who I Am"/Patty Loveless), a Golden Globe ("Here I Am"/Bryan Adams), and numerous other awards.
