Jaime Jamgochian Reflects on Her Dove Nomination, Album "All Things," & More New Music
Jaime Jamgochian has recently received her GMA Dove Award nomination for Inspirational Album of the Year for All Things, her first full-length album in nearly a decade. The acclaimed singer/songwriter and worship leader released the critically acclaimed project to commemorate the healing she received following a debilitating battle with Lyme disease.
All Things, which was released on October 2, 2020, is her first full-length album in over 7 years, in partnership with Word/Curb Publishing- Daywind/NewDay and Watershed Group Music. All Things also features the tender duet "Just The Way You Are," a reminder of God's unconditional love, featuring GRAMMY®-nominated singer/songwriter Danny Gokey; as well as the hopeful title-cut, "All Things For My Good," which took on new meaning for Jamgochian during her illness.
Q: Jaime, thanks for doing this interview with us. Congratulations on your GMA Dove Music Award nomination, how does that make you feel?
A: Thank you so much! It really was the sweetest moment to get the call that my All Things album had been nominated for Inspirational Album of the Year. I was shocked, excited, and remembered how that had been a dream of my heart when I signed my first record deal at 25. To see it come to pass so many years later through so many different seasons was just the reminder of the goodness and faithfulness of God. Something I had completely surrendered years ago that He brought back to life.
Q: What do you think of this year's Dove Awards?
I thought that show was phenomenal. All the of the live performances were incredible. With everything that we have all walked through these last few years with the pandemic, you could tell everyone was so happy to be together. We were lifting up the name above every other name, but also honoring and celebrating peoples hard work and gifts.
Q: What were some of the highlights for you as you were there at the awards?
I think the biggest highlight for me was seeing so many industry and artist friends I had not seen in a while. Hearing live music again and seeing the unity that is within the Christian/gospel music genre.
The part that touched me the most was sharing my story on the red carpet interviews of overcoming Lyme disease and how this album came out of that hard season. He really can bring beauty from ashes and there is nothing that He cannot work for our good.
Q: Your latest album was inspired by your struggles with Lyme disease. How are you now physically?
I am doing so well. I received a clean bill of health from Lyme disease the end of 2019. It has taken a while to get back to where I was if not better pre-lyme, as it really does affect so many parts of the body and immune system. I have changed the way I live my life in every way. Health and wellness had to become a priority after the effects of that disease. I have been recording, touring, and doing all the things I was not sure I would ever get to do again. I am so grateful for the healing process.
Q: Looking back at your album All Things a year after its release. What are some things about this record that still excites you?
A: I can honestly say this is my most favorite album I have every released. I don't know if it's because I took such a long break in between albums or the fact that it came out of one of the most challenging seasons, but it feels the most honest, real, and truly who I am.
I have loved hearing how these songs are connecting with people walking through various trials. That scripture became my anthem that God can work ALL THINGS together for our good. This album is a peek into what that journey looked like, the good and the bad.
Q: Many of your fans waited a long time for All Things, do you have any idea when your next record will drop? Are you working on new music now?
Thank you! I am working on new music now...eeeek! I hope to have something new out SPRING of 2022, but we shall see how that timeline works out. I forgot how exhausting full-time touring is so I have been using my days off to rest and recoup. It has been so fun to get back into the studio though writing and recording.
Q: Through all the ups and downs, from fighting Lyme disease, to being nominated at the Dove Awards, how has your faith grown in the last few months?
I think the biggest things I have learned it to not give up. There were plenty of dark moments I wanted to throw the towel in. I learned that we as humans do not need to nor ever will understand all the ways of God. This season also showed me once again that He is only faithful even when we are faith-less and that His ways and timing are so not like our own. I have to remind myself of this daily. This life of faith is not for the faint of heart, but we will never WALK IT ALONE and that is what I cling to. He is only good, and He is only faithful.
