Online Child Abuse: Alarm As Cases Of Online Child Abuse Rise
Children are now very conversant with the internet and many are logging in for them to play games or interact with people in social media sites. It has however come to light that there has been some form of child abuse on these sites and they have sadly increased over with time. According to the US watchdogs there has been a dramatic rise in reports of child abuse images posted to commonly used parts of the internet these days. These photos also include the ones posted to publicly accessible parts of social networks.
It now looks like taking control of this whole situation has become very difficult since more cases have increased with time. Over the first weeks of July there were reports of child abuse that were four times the weekly average which the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received.
The UK authorities have arrested 600 people in connection with online child abuse. Those arrested were believed to have been those using the so called dark net. For you to get access to this part you can only use special software since it is hidden and very hard to access.
NCMEC however did say that they were still working hard to making sure that the situation is nabbed though there has been a significant and growing challenge for law enforcement agencies to deal with materials on the open internet as well as the harder to reach areas like the dark net part.
Now most of this images are said to be traced back to third world countries which have just started getting high speed internet access and are not as sophisticated as most of the countries in using different anonymous statues.
Most popular sites however have been trying to help cab this situation by reporting child abuse cases. Sites like Facebook, twitter, and LinkedIn are working hand in hand with NCMEC in making sure that this situation is dealt with.
