"Insidious 3" Will Premiere May 2015; Cast Details and Plot Spoilers Released
2015 already promises to be a big year for blockbuster movies, so no one was surprised when the makers of "Insidious 3' decided to push the film's release date back a few months, in order to have it coincide with the other summer hits of May 2015.
"Insidious 3" is going to be much different from its predecessors, however. There is a new team working on the film, headed by the writer for the series Leigh Whannell, who is taking over the role of director from James Wan. Whannell, along with Angus Sampson, will officially be reprising their roles of Specs and Tucker, the ghost hunters from the previous two films.
Another return to the cast is Lin Shaye, who will again play Elise Rainier, the paranormal activity specialist. The film will feature some new faces as well as some old; Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott will be joining the cast for the third film in the "Insidious" franchise.
Production on the film is in full swing, and details about the plot have been released as well. Rather than focusing on the Lambert family as the previous two films have done, "Insidious 3" will be shifting gears to look at a new family, who is also being tormented by demons from The Further.
Focus Features recently released this tagline for the film: "Insidious: Chapter 3, a twisted new tale of terror begins for a teenage girl and her family, predating the haunting of the Lambert family in the earlier movies and revealing more mysteries of the otherworldly realm The Further."
So while we know that the events of this film will be happening prior to those of the previous two films, it is not guaranteed that those events will foreshadow or link to the events of the first two films in any way.
