Sony 'Uncharted' Movie Release Date Provided as Wahlberg Drops out of Movie Lead Role Options

This is the first ever movie which is based on the uncharted game series and it will make its debut in theatres by June 10th of 2016. The movie will be directed by Seth Gordon. Apparently Uncharted therefore upsets the balance that was set by putting Spiderman 3 on the same date. As such, Spiderman 3 has been slated to premiere by 2018. It will also disrupt the schedule for release of another Spiderman themed movie called the Sinister 6 which is about six of Spiderman's greatest adversaries. Filming has not yet started though director; Seth Gordon states that it should begin by early next year in order to be in time for the release date given 2016.

As such, the plot of the film is still in limbo but it has attractive elements such as the complexity and the sophistication of storytelling elements within the game. Obviously the people that have played the game and done it so a hundred times do not want a plot that features along the same lines. They want things to be different this time round with twists that they had not thought of in the first place.

Seth already has someone in mind for the lead role, Nathan Drake, and it was Mark Wahlberg. However, that fell through when a previous director David Russell dropped out of the project. Another director Neil Burger was attached to the project but also decided to drop out of the movie. However, the studio  still wants Wahlberg to come and play the  role but Sony and his reps state that nothing is moving in that direction presently. The announcement of the release date comes in the wake of the release of the new PS4 game, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End trailer.  The hunt for the leading man is still on though fans are more comfortable with Castle star Fillion as the lead role following Wahlbergs dropping out.
