Avengers 2: Age Of Ultron : Four Female Lead Roles Rumored for this Installment by Director
The rumors about the new movie have already started to buzz around Hollywood; there are some determined facts like a new villain in store for the team played by the Blacklist's James Spader in the role of Ultron. However, what you probably have not heard about the upcoming movie is that there will be four prominent female roles. This might by a move in the larger picture by Marvel to even out things on both the gender and racial front. The same thing was reported about the next captain America movie which will see Chris Evans leave the role for Anthony Mackie who was the Falcon in the previous version, or the role of Thor being changed to female in the upcoming comic book strips.
The news about the four roles was given by director Joss Whedon, who has been spilling tidbits about the movie, which premieres May 1st 2015, since early this year. Of course Black Widow, played by Scarlet Johansen will be in play. There will also be Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Maria Hill played by (Colbie Smulders). This sees at least one representation of shield within the movie as Phil Coulson already stated that he will be watching the movie from the sidelines along with Loki. We can be sure that she will be reinforced by Nick Fury.
It is interesting that all of the female roles will be forces of good or at least, the rumors seem to be heading in that direction. The next Avengers movie after this one will definitely feature some female baddies but that remains to be seen. Johansen stated that she did not see herself evolving into a comic book star especially after the first film. However, with the shooting of the Winter Soldier and the upcoming movie: Lucy, she seen another side to herself. She has quickly become accustomed to welding automatic weapons and combat scenes and the world of espionage. We can expect the next female stars in the movie to become profile avengers in a similar fashion.
