Brian Houston to Address the Upcoming Hillsong Documentary, Leaked Documents & Scandals

Brian Houston, founding pastor and former Global Senior Pastor of Hillsong Church, will be addressing the allegations the Australian-based megachurch is currently facing. From sexual assaults to money laundering to the abuse of students to the extra-marital affairs, Houston will be setting the record straight live on his Instagram account this Saturday, 6 pm (Sydney time).
Meanwhile, FX and Vanity Fair will be releasing a documentary series entitled "The Secrets of Hillsong." The documentary, which will air its first two episodes on FX on Friday and its second two May 26 (with each set available on Hulu the following day), offers the first substantial on-the-record comments from former Hillsong New York pastor Carl Lentz since his firing. Lentz will be chatting for the first time about his affairs.
The series also airs previously known allegations that the church downplayed and even concealed sexual misconduct, including by Hillsong founder Brian Houston and his father, pastor Frank Houston. The younger Houston has been accused of both his own sexual misconduct, including making sexually suggestive remarks to a female attendee of a conference in 2019, and of covering up his father's sexual abuse of young boys in the 1970s.
Currently, an Australian court is weighing whether or not Brian Houston had a "reasonable excuse" not to report his father's sexual abuse to the police. Oral submission of the case is scheduled for June 15 and 16.
