Resident Evil 6 will be the last installment in the film franchise that's been based on the horror science fiction Capcom video game. Originally set to be titled as "Resident Evil Rising," the forthcoming sci-fi movie will more likely be renamed "The Final Chapter."
In an interview with Collider, Resident Evil director and writer Paul W.S. Anderson said, "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is the working title. It may end up being the final title, but that's what's written on the front page of my script....I'm right in the middle [of the first draft]."
Previously thought to be ready for a September 2014 release, it now seems that fans of the franchise will have to wait a while longer. Asked whether Resident Evil 6 will be ready by 2015 or 2016, Anderson replied, "I don't know, depends how fast I write I guess. There's no set date yet but hopefully we'll have an announcement for that soon."
In an earlier interview with Hollywood News, Anderson gave a hint as to the storyline for Resident Evil 6. He said, "Resident Evil Rising [now possibly to be retitled Final Chapter] will follow Alice (played by his wife Milla Jovovich) and her crew as they rush to the Hive, where The Red Queen plots total destruction over the human race."
Aside from his wife, Andersen also confirmed that Bingbing Li will return to reprise her character in the film, Ada Wong, the mysterious, cunning antihero and vixen.
