Hillsong's Brian Houston's Back in Court Today!
Brian Houston, the founder and former Global Senior Pastor, will be in court this week on June 15 and 16 (Australian time). Closing statements will be made and a verdict from the judge will be rendered later in the year.
Houston had been in court for three weeks late last year for allegedly concealing his father's abuse some forty years ago. The pastor has been charged for concealing "serious indictable offence of another person" which concerns child sexual abuse committed by his late father Frank Houston that occurred in the 1970s, which he became aware of in 1999. Houston has pleaded not guilty to concealing his late father's crime.
Due to COVID-19, the case's verdict has been delayed until this week. Taking to Instagram, Brian states: "The delay is frustrating but it is what it is and Bobbie and I will be using the time committed to building for the future.
"Well it's been a big year for Bobbie and I and our family. The last three weeks have been rigorous to say the least but we have felt the prayers of so many.
"Obviously I can't comment on my court case but there's to be two more days of submissions in June 2023. The delay is frustrating but it is what it is and Bobbie and I will be using the time committed to building for the future."
Brian's wife Bobbie expresses her anxiety as the dates of the verdict near. Bobbie writes, "So, the month of June now awaits us. The defamation & "character assassination" is at an all time high, which remains both astonishing & disturbing. We will walk into what awaits us with hearts fixed on JESUS - the One who walks ahead, beside, behind; the One who resides within, and is supreme judge & jury on so much of what has been 2022 & the last 25yrs.
"On that note, I have remained constrained by the Holy Spirit. Lack of comment or perspective is not because words nor perspective are lacking.Trust me. This woman is not remotely confused by the tempestuous winds of narrative & nonsense. We have remained constrained because we care about the wellbeing of people. The antichrist naysayers & self-righteous will say what they will on even that comment, but what they say ultimately doesn't matter. Only what THE LORD SAYS matters."
