Google teams up with Razer to create a gamer friendly micro-console; enters a Sony and Nintendo dominated realm

Search engine giant Google will be collaborating with Razer to create a micro-console, marking its crossover into Xbox and PlayStation territory. There has been no word yet as to its launch date and price range, but the partnership has gained considerable buzz.
The newest additions to the growing line of Android-powered gadgets, micro-consoles were designed for users who want to have a little of everything: video gaming capabilities and excellent video streaming, but doing away with the need for constant console upgrades. Amazon came in early into this category with its Fire TV. Pitched as a gaming and media streaming device, hardcore gamers won't be impressed graphics-wise.
This is where Razer comes in. The San Francisco based company is known for its top-of-the-line, high resolution gaming laptops, tablets, and accessories. It recently launched Razer Blade, bannered as the world's slimmest, high-resolution gaming laptop.
According to Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan, this will be the console of the future, built for gamers of all levels, and just about everyone. "Built on Google's incredible Android TV platform, the Razer micro-console incorporates not only hardcore and casual gaming, but music, movies and other entertainment and social applications, all on an affordable system."
