MacBook Pro 2014 Refresh: Apple Releases Refresh Versions Of The 13-Inch (Retina), 15-Inch (Retina) And 13-Inch (Non-Retina) MacBook Pro With A Price Cut

Apple has launched a 13-inch and 15-inch refreshed Retina MacBook Pro. Both now feature faster versions of the Intel's Haswell processers. All the 13-inch models now come with 8GB of RAM standard while the 15-inch models feature 16GB of RAM. The 15-inch model has received a $100 price cut, which means it goes from $2500 to $2499.

Apart from the refresh of the Retina MacBook Pro, Apple's 13-inch non-Retina also received a price cut from $1199 to $1099. Despite this, the machine has not been updated with any faster internal features and remains the same as how it was introduced in 2012.

This refresh is quite minor as it is primarily a stopgap measure until apple can launch a major and more significant update to its Retina MacBook Pro line as soon as Intel's next-generation Broadwell processor arrives in the market.  Broadwell chips meant for the MacBook pro may take as long as until mid 2015 to arrive in the market. It's also rumored that Apple is working on a 12-inch Retina MacBook for 2015 which will supposedly feature an ultrathin chassis, revamped trackpad and a fan-less cooling system.

For those interested with the refreshed Retina MacBook Pro, they are available in Apple's various retail locations and online stores which has all the standard configuration showing a shipping service availability which is dispatched in the next 24 hours after purchase. The refreshed notebooks will be part of Apple' so school program where qualified educational purchasers will be given an Apple Store gift card of $100 with the purchases of the new MacBook.

A press release has been received from Apple saying, "People love their MacBook Pro because of the thin and light, aluminum unibody design, beautiful Retina displays, all day battery life and deep integration with OS X. The MacBook Pro with Retina display gets even better with faster processor, more memory, more affordable configurations and a free upgrade to OS X Yosemite this fall."

There are also highlights from Apple that there is a price drop on the non-retina model, saying that the machine is very popular with Window switchers.
