It is reported that the highly anticipated video game, Star Wars Battlefront 3, will not be exactly related to the upcoming film, 'Star Wars episode VII'. Electronic Arts (EA) has given a confirmation that 'Star Wars Battlefront 3' is set for release in 2015 with versions being released for the Xbox one, PC and PlayStation 4 platforms.

Patrick Soderland, the company executive VP, noted that Battlefront 3 will not be linked or in any way related to the new Star Wars movie. He said, "What we're building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars Universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made." He continues to say, "And that's because we wanted to make a game that celebrated the history of Star Wars. Obviously, there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn't say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the new movie but I wouldn't say that we are directly tied to it."

MCV reported that in an interview with Karl-Magnus Troedsson, who is the general manager of EA Digital illusions Creative Entertainment said that the reason why the studio will be giving its best shot for Battlefield 3 is because Star Wars has a very special place in their hearts. He also said that once they had the chance to work on the game, they grabbed the opportunity.
