Keith and Kristyn Getty Enlist Zach Williams for "Scarlet Thread"
On Friday, July 26, GRAMMY®-nominated and Dove award-winning singer songwriters and modern hymn writing duo Keith & Kristyn Getty will release the new single, "Scarlet Thread," in a first-time collaboration with multi GRAMMY®and Dove-award-winning artist Zach Williams. The song explores new sonic spaces for the Gettys, infusing Williams' signature gritty tones with the Irish and Roots-style music that has characterized several of the couple's recordings.
The new song takes listeners on a powerful lyrical journey that knits together millennia of Biblical imagery where blood red is the color of redemption and love. It was written by the Gettys and award-winning songwriters Michael Farren and Tony Wood. Farren is a GRAMMY-nominated and Dove Award winning songwriter whose catalog includes songs for Lauren Daigle, Cityalight, for King & Country, and many more. Wood's decades-long career has seen multiple Dove award nominations and wins, and more than 800 of his songs have been recorded by artists including Reba McEntire, Mandissa, Michael W. Smith, and numerous others.
The recording, produced by GRAMMY and Dove-winning songwriter and producer Bryan Fowler, extends the musical journey begun with the Gettys' GRAMMY-nominated album Confessio: Irish American Roots.
"It has been a joy to share 'Scarlet Thread' on tour for over a year now," Kristyn Getty said. "Finally, we have the first recording of this song! And what a privilege to have the incredible Zach Williams bring his voice to it."
Getty continues, "The song follows the scarlet thread of grace running throughout the Scriptures, masterfully woven by the Lord's hand. We hope it lifts your heart to the epic and incomparable drama that is marvelously unfolding before our eyes. A story that invites everyone in."
"Scarlet Thread" is slated to open the Gettys' annual Sing! Conference, which is held each September in Nashville and is expected to draw more than 6,500 in-person attendees and be viewed by more than 50,000 people online. The lyrics resonate with the event's theme: "The Songs of the Bible." It will also be featured throughout their touring this Fall which includes fellow Getty Music label hymn writers Matt Boswell and Matt Papa in a visit to thirteen cities from Texas to Toronto.
