"True" is more than just a song; it's a powerful declaration of authenticity and emotional depth. Known for his ability to connect deeply with listeners, Hulvey pours his heart into this track, delivering raw and genuine storytelling that resonates on a personal level. Diving into the duality of how Hulvey experiences love in its truest form (through God and his wife), the single is a testament to his growth as an artist and his unwavering commitment to staying true to himself.
"'I wrote this song about God and my wife at the same time. I wanted to create something that not only resonates with my own experiences but also speaks to anyone who is in search of unconditional love," says Hulvey. "It is something I have found in Christ and I see Him through the way that my wife, Rachael, loves me. I couldn't imagine my life without either one of them and that is the whole point of this song. I hope this song leads people to Him."
Sonically inspired by old school T-pain and early 2000s R&B and Hip Hop, this track is produced by Lasanna "Ace" Harris, Tenroc, Dave James, and Hulvey himself. "True" brings a fresh, dynamic sound to Hulvey's music as a whole showcasing the versatility he has with his artistry. Fans can look forward to an accompanying music video that visually amplifies the song's themes, bringing to life the emotional intensity and creative vision behind "True." Directed by Ade "Adelight" Adesina, the video promises to be a visually striking experience that complements the track's powerful message.
In addition to this exciting single, Hulvey is gearing up for the release of his sophomore album, CRY, set to drop on September 13th. Entering a new era, Hulvey's message in his September 13th LP "Cry" is expressed in the phrase: 'Every drop means something.' This album serves as a reintroduction, featuring a select few collaborators (Samm Henshaw, Forrest Frank, and Torey D'Shaun), allowing Hulvey's lyrical themes and talent to shine over his carefully crafted sample-driven beats.
"Before writing this album, I found myself crying at the goodness of God in my life and wondering why I had these tears. I realized that those tears were a result of being overwhelmed by His love. This album [CRY] is my invitation for us all to embrace vulnerability as a path to deeper connection with God," says Hulvey.
Currently on a pre-album late-summer tour with Christian worship giants Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham, Hulvey is surely building up the anticipation for his biggest project yet and after over 1 year of teasing this long awaited project, his fans are ready.
