Michael Tait Issues Public Confession Regarding Drug Use and Inappropriate Sexual Conduct with Men

In a deeply personal and emotional statement released today, Christian music artist Michael Tait has publicly confessed to past cocaine use and inappropriate conduct with men. Tait, best known as the lead singer of Newsboys and former member of DC Talk, shared the news in an effort to be transparent with his fans, church community, and the broader Christian public.
"I have struggled in silence for years, carrying the weight of personal failure and addiction," Tait said. "I want to confess openly that I battled cocaine use in the past and acted in ways that did not honor my faith or calling-specifically in how I engaged with men inappropriately. These actions were wrong, and I am truly sorry."
Tait's confession comes amid growing calls for accountability in Christian leadership and public ministry. He emphasized that his statement was not motivated by external pressure, but by a personal conviction to walk in truth and seek healing.
"I am receiving professional counseling, engaging in spiritual restoration with trusted pastors, and stepping back from public ministry for a time of repentance and renewal," he added. "God's grace is real, and I believe in redemption-but that begins with honesty."
Neither Newsboys nor DC Talk have issued official comments at this time. Representatives from Tait's management team have confirmed that scheduled appearances are currently under review.
Fans and fellow artists have begun to respond on social media, many offering prayers and support while acknowledging the pain such revelations bring to the broader Christian community.
