Attack on Titan Season 2 Release Date, Plot and Spoilers: Hoax Revealed as Spinoff Series, Prequel Slated for December and April as Volumes 15 and 16 of Anime Series before Season 2 Release
The rumors around the release date of the anime stating that it would make a return in July 2015 were a hoax. At the present, the most realistic date set for the release of the manga is not until august 2015, as per now. That is not to say that the prank did not do any damage. It reached far and wide and many blogs and news sites shared the news thinking that it was in fact the real deal. Following this, Otaku House did a press release consoling everyone that there will be a season 2 and 3 eventually. Attack on Titan is an anime based story which is about Eren Jaeger and how he joined a group of highly trained soldiers in order to fight the titans. These are monstrous humanoid man eating creatures that have threatened the human race with fear and chaos.
However, that does not mean because we have to go another year without some good manga that we will not be entertainment in the meantime. According to Scott Green of Crunchyroll, there is a spinoff called "Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi" which is being launched. The anime series spin off has been slated for the issues of volume 15 as well as 16. These manga have a release date slated for December 29th this year and April 15th 2015.
As suggested by the volume 15 and 16 issues, the title of the "Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi" is going to be a separate short story arc sort of thing for volumes 15 and 16. We may in fact be looking at the prequel to Attack on Titan where the story will focus more on Levi than on Eren or Mikasa for that matter. Apart from the "Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi" prequel, there are reports of two live action movies for Attack on titan as a series, which are being worked on at the moment, the release date for these films has been slated for the summer of 2015.
